Reproduced from the original Jacob Eby tall case in the Henry Ford Museum.
The case features extensive marquetry on cherry solids and veneers.
Thin bands of maple and walnut accent the pinch-waist case, adorned by an oval marquetry ornament of maple and walnut. The base also features an inlaid circular band to complement the waist door.
Brass capitals and bases on the front columns enhance the cherry finish, while the hood is fitted with carved flame-tip finials and inlaid rosettes at the ends of the split swan-neck pediment.
The movement is an 8 day Kieninger triple chime movement (Westminster,Whittington, St. Michael) with separate silent modes for both the chime and hourly strike.
Additionally, the movement features an evening silent mode which shuts off the chime and strike from 9:45 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
The functional lunar dial features a pastoral scene, moon and maritime battle scene.
