Seth Thomas "Onyx" Adamantine
Seth Thomas' alternative to expensive stones was Adamantine, a celluloid veneer.  This one is meant to simulate onyx.  The movement is a standard Seth Thomas 7-day time and strike movement, with the hour strike on a coil and the half-hour strike on a brass bell.  The patinated bronze griffons on each side, as well as the scroll feet, pilaster bases, and capitals are all in excellent original condition, as are the original dial and hands.
